Heckflosse restoration

A bit of history

The Heckflosse models came in to sizes. The big one, 220/S/SEb, and the small one ,190/Dc. The larger model was introduced in 1959 and the smaller ones came in 1961 as an replacment of the Ponton models of the 50's.

I was actually interrested in buying an practical and economical second car. My other car is a 1969 VW 1300, not so keen on driving this in winter a thought that a Mercedes Benz with a Diesel engine would be a great car to fill this spot. So what i set out to buy was a /8 Mercedes or a W114/W115 car. The reson for this is that I wanted a as new as possible Merc that was still more than 30 years old. In Norway there is a Veteran age of 30 years on cars. When a car reaches this age the owner will no longer have to pay the annual road tax and the insurance will be alot cheaper.

I didn't find a /8 to buy but I did find a 1962 190D for sale......
Called the owner and went to see it. Not one of the smartest thing I have ever said but...I did say the words "I'll take it".
And so the story begins.....

Here I'll describe why I started this blog and describe the topics I'm primarily interested in covering in it.

Not very nice but it has a strange feature...color coded dash!!

This could be a picture of me, my town, or a recent trip I took.
